Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) has secured its place among top-tier aviation facilities, being named the seventh-best medium-sized airport in North America by J.D. Power. According to a report released by the Palm Beach County government's official website. "Being recognized by J.D. Power as one of the nation’s top medium-size airports is a testament to our ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience at Palm Beach International Airport," says Laura Beebe, Director of Airports.
The J.D. Power assessment evaluated various aspects of the travel experience, including food options and baggage claim efficiency. PBI's ongoing expansion adds retail space and important amenities, such as larger restrooms and areas for those with sensory sensitivity, contributing to its positive reputation. This comes after Travel + Leisure readers ranked PBI among the top ten U.S. airports two months ago.
Passenger traffic at PBI is increasing, with nearly 8.1 million travelers in the past year. The upcoming launch of Porter Airlines flights to Toronto on November 14 is expected to enhance international connectivity. Additionally, JetBlue will begin daily nonstop service to Los Angeles on October 27, alongside the return of seasonal flights to cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, Houston, and Washington-Dulles International Airport.
PBI has received numerous recent awards from Conde Nast and Travel + Leisure Magazine, reinforcing its status as South Florida's award-winning airport. An economic impact study by the Florida Department of Transportation shows that PBI not only facilitates travel but also contributes over $4.6 billion to the local economy, highlighting its role as a significant economic engine for the region.
