Pinal County Rallies for Domestic Violence Awareness with 3rd Annual 5K Trail Walk and Family Day in Apache JunctionSource: Pinal County Attorney's Office

Community members in Pinal County are coming together for a cause that affects many but is spoken of too little; in a push to raise awareness and show support for survivors, the Pinal County Attorney's Office is joining forces with local authorities and organizations for the 3rd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness 5k Trail Walk and Family Day on October 12.

This family-friendly event is a beacon of unity where Pinal County makes a stand, according to County Attorney Kent Volkmer, who said, "Bringing the community together to publicly stand up against Domestic Violence promotes a safer, stronger and better Pinal County." The need for such solidarity remains pressing as, by the fiscal year's end on June 30, Victim Services Unit of the Pinal County Attorney's office has extended its support to 800 victims of domestic violence, as noted in a recent announcement by the Pinal County Attorney's Office. The event's agenda includes not just the walk but also speakers, games for attendees, and local vendors.

The 5k Trail Walk and Family Day provides an opportunity for the public to engage with their community and support an important cause simultaneously, festivities begin bright and early at 7:00 am at Prospector Park, located at 3015 N. Idaho Road in Apache Junction, the event wraps up around 11:00 a.m. Admission is free for all, however, those who can make a $30 donation will receive a "swag bag", and proceeds will be funneled directly into local domestic violence programs, ensuring that those in the frontline of assistance have the resources they need. In addition to the walk and accompanying activities, there will be a prescription drug take back service provided and a chance to shred sensitive documents safely and securely.

Participants can register online for the walk, and are encouraged to bring along donations that could be of aid to domestic violence survivors; suggested items include essentials such as shampoo, toothpaste, body wash, and paper towels, every small donation comes together to paint a larger picture of communal support and contribution. The event's dual focus on raising awareness and providing tangible support melds constructive engagement with proactive community service—painting an opportunity to ignite change, one step at a time.
