A 21-year-old man has been taken into custody by the Salt Lake City Police Department's Gang Unit for his alleged involvement in a shooting that injured a 55-year-old woman in the Glendale neighborhood. The incident, initially reported to SLC911 around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, led to the discovery that two individuals had fired shots into a residence, striking the woman. She was subsequently transported to a hospital with serious, but, fortunately, non-life-threatening injuries, as detailed by the SLCPD.
Following an extensive investigation by the SLCPD Gang Unit, authorities were able to locate and apprehend Sam Keith Maez Ripley. On August 30, Ripley was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail. He faces charges including one count of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon as a restricted person, and 14 counts of felony discharge of a firearm, potentially to lead to serious bodily injury. Investigators have emphasized that their efforts to quickly and efficiently identify suspects in such violent incidents are ongoing and critical to maintaining public safety. This is the second arrest made in connection to this incident.
