Investigators are probing a suspicious death after a man was found deceased behind the Hazard Center Food 4 Less in Mission Valley East. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred early yesterday morning when a male subject was located unresponsive on the east side of the grocery store at 7730 Hazard Center Drive.

San Diego Police received the call at approximately 7:26 a.m. and dispatched officers and medics to render first aid. Despite their efforts, the 25-year-old Black man, whose identity has been withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead on the scene. Initial suspicions suggested an overdose, given the items found with the body.

Detectives are searching the area for witnesses and looking for surveillance footage related to the death. They are also collaborating with the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office to find out the cause of death and any injuries the person may have had.
