The San Francisco Police Department is calling on the community to assist in locating April Martin Chartrand, a 67-year-old local woman implicated in a hate crime earlier this year and now reported missing. On the morning of April 26, Chartrand allegedly left racist and threatening items near a building on the 900 block of Grove Street, an act being investigated as a hate crime, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Through their inquiry, investigators have pinpointed Chartrand as the suspect, resulting in a Ramey Warrant for her arrest. Yet, on August 23, a family member reported Chartrand missing, complicating the police's ongoing search for her. In their public statement, SFPD emphasized that racism of any kind will not be tolerated and urged anyone who encounters Chartrand to contact authorities, providing her location and physical description immediately.
The investigation remains active. SFPD invites individuals with any information regarding Chartrand's whereabouts or the hate crime incident to contact them. Tips can be communicated by calling 1-415-575-4444 or texting TIP411 to begin the message with SFPD.
