According to the City of Seattle, in a recent gathering at Seattle City Hall's Bertha Knight Landes Room, the two-day event on September 9 and 10 drew in various speakers in technology, public service, and data ethics. Key highlights included keynote addresses by thought leaders like Saby Waraich and Lindsey Pollak, focusing on leadership and navigating uncertainties in the current tech landscape.
Day one of the conference opened with remarks from Jonathan Reichental, whose experience as a professor and tech advisor set an upbeat tone for the meeting, according to a TechTalk blog post. The day progressed with discussions around AI and public good, featuring a panel of Seattle's tech leaders discussing ethical AI use in governance. In what could be described as a quirky twist for a tech conference, Grammy winner Sir Mix-a-Lot appeared surprisedly, sharing his technology exploits in music.
Mayor Bruce Harrell highlighted the city's dedication to innovative and ethically responsible technology practices. Saby Waraich's standout session on leading complex transformations delved into cultivating empathetic leadership styles, as per the aforementioned TechTalk reflection. Chief of Staff William Smith inspired the first day, priming attendees for the insights to come.
On the second day, attendees were welcomed back by Smith and then immersed in Lindsey Pollak's keynote on adaptability, the conference's prevailing theme.
