Two thefts within hours at different locations ended in arrests yesterday. Late in the afternoon, around 3:57 PM, Colma Officers were dispatched to the Metro Mall Shopping Center following the report of a theft at a business around 2:00 PM. It was noted that two males had entered the establishment and made off with merchandise, escaping detection. Details were sketchy as the business did not initially report the incident to the police.
The duo proved to be daring. Perhaps emboldened by their undetected success, they struck again on the same day. The Colma Police Department reported that the same two individuals were involved in a secondary theft around 3:30 PM, this time in San Bruno. The business in San Bruno, exercising better vigilance, had their loss prevention team contact the San Bruno Police Department, who responded promptly and detained the suspects.
Recognized for their earlier theft in Colma by the loss prevention officer, the two were linked to the initial crime. Colma officers arrived at the San Bruno Police Department, where they recovered the stolen items, amounting to merchandise worth $3,766.21. The apprehended culprits, Juan Osvaldoramirez, 24, of San Jose, and Angel Penaloza, 21, of Santa Clara, were subsequently arrested and charged with grand theft and felony conspiracy to commit a crime. Both were booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
