The Summit County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate an incident that occurred last Friday in Peoa, where two young boys on bikes were allegedly approached by a group of men, prompting a reaction from law enforcement and the community. According to KPCW, deputies arrived on the scene around 4:30 p.m. after receiving reports of the suspicious activity on Woodenshoe Lane.
A flyer posted on the private Facebook group, Moms of Park City, UT, detailed the alleged incident, noting that the boys were surrounded by five to seven adult men wearing dark clothes, possibly deterred by the boys' screams and the sight of their mother approaching. Deputies' search for individuals matching the description of their dark-colored car provided by witnesses came up empty, and the office has not confirmed this as an attempted abduction, as reported by TownLift.
As KUTV reports, the suspected individuals are of shorter stature, with short, cropped hair, dark skin, dressed in dark clothing, and at least one with a forearm tattoo. The vehicle in question is a dark blue-gray Toyota Highlander, likely a model from 2008 or 2013. Despite multiple agencies responding and an extensive search, the suspects remain at large, and deputies are still gathering information from local residents.
Amidst these concerning events, the Sheriff's Office is now turning to the public for assistance, particularly regarding any potential home security camera footage. "This doesn't mean it didn't happen, but we are actively investigating," Chief Deputy Kacey Bates said, as obtained by TownLift. The sheriff's office has asked residents of Woodenshoe Lane to review footage from their security cameras between 4:20 and 4:35 p.m. on the day of the incident, hoping additional evidence might surface to aid in their ongoing investigation.
