Three juveniles are facing serious charges in connection to a robbery that occurred on a CTA train earlier this month. The Chicago Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a 12-year-old male juvenile, a 13-year-old female juvenile, and a 15-year-old male juvenile. Each has been charged with one felony count of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to official statements released by the department.
The suspects were apprehended on September 23, 2024, on the 5100 block of S. Wentworth Ave. They are accused of forcefully taking property from an 18-year-old female victim, while allegedly brandishing a dangerous weapon on September 14. The robbery took place at around 9:30 p.m. inside a CTA train located in the 300 block of E. 47th St. in what was likely a terrifying encounter for the young woman involved.
All three offenders were quickly identified and subsequently placed into custody. The Chicago Police Department has not yet to truly delve into any additional details about the circumstances surrounding the robbery or the specific weapon allegedly used. The case against these juveniles is based on evidence that presumably links them to the crime scene and the victim's testimony.
While the identities of the juvenile offenders are withheld due to privacy laws given their age, the charges are notably severe.
