Three individuals have been apprehended and are now facing serious charges in connection with a vehicular hijacking incident in Chicago that involved the use of a firearm. According to a report from the Chicago Police Department, Trinity Peterson, 22, of the 5600 block of W. West End Ave.; Anthony Jones, 21, of the 4100 block of W. Wabansia Ave.; and Richard Tolbert, 20, of the 800 block of S. Carriage Way, Elgin, IL were taken into custody on September 23, 2024. They are each charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm.
The trio was arrested in the 3200 block of W. Wabansia after they were identified as the offenders who, on September 20, had allegedly taken a vehicle at gunpoint from two victims, a 32-year-old female and a 33-year-old male, in the 1600 block of N. Kedzie. The department was able to place the accused into custody and charge them accordingly swiftly. The case appears to quickly progress as the detention hearing has been scheduled for today, September 25, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California.
No further details about the circumstances surrounding the hijacking or the arrest have been released at this time. While the information currently made available is scant, the nature of the charges suggests the severity of the crime and the potential consequences that the offenders could face if convicted.
