An early Sunday altercation at an Old Hickory residence escalated into a fatal shooting incident, leaving two men deceased. According to WKRN, the incident transpired around 3:30 a.m. on Fields Drive when an argument broke out during a social gathering. Steven Gutierrez, 41, reportedly shoved a 19-year-old man amidst the dispute.
Retaliating, the unidentified 19-year-old allegedly drew a firearm and shot Gutierrez multiple times, as stated by authorities. Following the conflagration, Gutierrez was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, he was pronounced dead, running away with his life following the heated exchange.
The Metro Nashville Police Department is actively investigating the sequence of events that led to the subsequent injury of the 19-year-old suspect. After leaving the scene with friends, he was dropped off with a gunshot wound at TriStar Summit Medical Center. Police, having been notified of the death, are attempting to notify the young man's family, as reported by WSMV. The circumstances under which the teenager was shot are still subject to their ongoing investigation.
The violence in Old Hickory contributes to a somber tally with at least three shooting fatalities over the weekend, including a 16-year-old boy on Hallborough Way and a 37-year-old man, both from separate incidents.
