A tragic house fire in Northwest Miami-Dade early yesterday morning left two people dead and a third injured. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on the 1900 block of Northwest 53rd Street, according to WSVN.
The fire prompted an immediate response from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, who discovered three residents outside and were informed that two others were trapped inside. Despite efforts to save them, including breaking windows and venting the roof, the two trapped individuals, one of whom neighbors identified as Barbara Tamayo, did not survive. Jorge Marin, another resident, sustained burns to his back and hands and expressed to WSVN in Spanish, "Look, I have burns. I'm the victim, I'm the injured one."
In addition, a report from Local 10 from the previous day referenced two injuries resulting from a house fire in Miami-Dade, though it's unclear if this references the same incident or an unrelated one.
As the investigation continues, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. However, Marin has suggested the possibility of arson, linked to an earlier argument. Several individuals have been detained for questioning, but no charges have been filed thus far.
