Last night's calm in Hillcrest was shattered by a shocking accident that has left a 66-year-old woman fighting for her life. According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman was lying in the roadway on University Avenue when she was struck by a Jeep Wrangler driven by a 49-year-old male.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:28 PM along the westbound lane of 500 University Avenue. Reports indicate that the victim was run over by the right front tire of the vehicle and was still under it when the driver brought his car to a stop. Struggling to possibly survive her critical injuries, including a fractured hip and brain hemorrhage, the woman is currently in a state of hemorrhagic shock.
