A confrontation over an attempted car rental escalated into gunfire on a quiet Wyoming street on Sunday night, resulting in the arrest of 36-year-old Miguel Fritz. Fritz, who is accused of shooting at three individuals, including a seven-year-old child, faces multiple charges, including felonious assault and possession of a weapon while under disability, a restriction due to a previous felony conviction in 2013.
According to the WCPO, the dispute began after Fritz allegedly repossessed a car from one of the victims earlier that day. The patrons returned to rent a vehicle but were rebuffed, leading to the argument that concluded with Fritz reportedly discharging a firearm at them. Notably, this incident took place near the Wyoming Police Department.
Following the altercation, the victims fled towards the police station, fearing for their lives. No injuries were reported, even as the bullet went into the roof of a front porch, noted Detective Patrick Sublet of the Wyoming Police Department. This commentary was highlighted in a FOX19 report, which also detailed the $110,000 bond and electronic monitoring requirement imposed on Fritz by a judge.
The arrest came after an hours-long search for the suspect, spanning into the early hours of Monday. WLWT reported officers were called to the Oak Avenue area following the shooting incident that took place just after 11 p.m. Fritz was eventually discovered, and shell casings were visible on the ground at the scene.
