A dramatic series of events unfolded in the early hours at Provo Canyon, where a woman was apprehended on allegations of carjacking and erratic behavior. According to Fox 13, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near Bridal Veil Falls when an armed woman confronted a group of four individuals, forcing them out of a pickup truck at gunpoint.
The affrighted group hid in nearby bushes and promptly dialed 911. A subsequent press release from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office detailed how the suspect, identified as Murray, took control of the vehicle and began honking the horn insistently, "When Deputies arrived they ordered Murray to get out of the pickup but she refused," as reported by ABC4. It was then that more officers arrived on the scene, and the woman proceeded to drive a distance before pulling over near the parking area.
The authorities were able to take Murray into custody and later found a "realistic-looking BB gun" inside the stolen vehicle. The discovery of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in a separate car rented by Murray led investigators to believe her actions may have been fueled by narcotic influence. "We suspect that she was under the influence of drugs. It’s possible she may have some mental health challenges on board as well, but, whatever the situation, it was pretty, pretty nervous for a while there until they got her under control," Sergeant Spencer Cannon said, as per KSLTV.
