On September 25, the Colma Police Department arrested a convicted felon found in possession of live rifle ammunition. During a routine patrol near the Serra Center Shopping Center at about 12:07 am, officers spotted a BMW with expired tags since August 2022 and decided to investigate.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ismael Gonzalez, a 45-year-old from Berkeley, was found to be on active probation with search terms. According to a post on the Colma Police Department's official Facebook page, a probation search was conducted, which uncovered a plastic bag containing multiple rounds of ammunition. Mr. Gonzalez's record precluded him from owning or possessing such materials, given his status as a prior convicted felon.
Gonzalez faced immediate arrest following the discovery and was subsequently booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
