
Three teenagers from Bethesda have been placed into custody following a strong-arm robbery at the Tobacco and More Mart on Old Georgetown Road. The suspects, aged 14, 15, and 16, are accused of having forcefully taken property from the store and assaulted an employee who tried to intervene during the incident on the morning of October 22, as Montgomery County Police announced earlier today.
According to Montgomery County Police, 2nd District officers were called to the scene at approximately 9:34 a.m. after the robbery was reported. Police say the trio entered the business, took items, and were attempting to irrevocably leave the location when the employee's confrontation with the 16-year-old led to the victim being hit in the head. The teenagers subsequently fled with the stolen property.
According to the report, the police’s rapid response led to the apprehension of the three minors. Officers managed to locate suspects matching the provided descriptions. "The suspects were quickly apprehended and taken into custody without incident," as stated by Montgomery County's official press release.
After their arrest, the suspects were charged with robbery and subsequently released to their caregivers. The details of the minors' motivations or circumstances have not been disclosed.
