Earlier today, Boston Police officers in Roxbury apprehended a 20-year-old man, Seven Dunkley, on charges relating to firearms and drug distribution. According to the Boston Police Department, Dunkley was arrested after a traffic stop triggered by him driving the wrong way on a one-way street, an action that has been a persistent complaint within the community.
The stop occurred near 69 Winthrop Street when officers quickly activated their lights and sirens due to an infraction. During their interaction with Dunkley, he failed to produce a driver's license and registration. Since the car was scheduled to be towed, an inventory search was conducted as per police policy. During this search, officers uncovered a Glock 26 with a high-capacity magazine and a modification for fully automatic fire.
The search also revealed evidence pointing to the possession and intent to sell marijuana, with the discovery of one large and thirteen small plastic bags of the substance, alongside $150 in cash. As officers discovered the firearm, Dunkley attempted to escape but was apprehended after a short foot chase and securely handcuffed.
Dunkley's charges include Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Second Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offense, and other related firearm and drug offenses. Additionally, he received a citation for several motor vehicle violations. The case is set to swiftly proceed to the Roxbury District Court for arraignment, marking another instance where traffic enforcement has led to potentially more serious offenses being uncovered.
