The City of Boulder announced the opening of its Human Relations Fund (HRF) applications for events scheduled between January and May 2025. Beginning 10 a.m. today, local community organizations can submit their proposals for projects that promote civil rights, human rights, or equity issues within the Boulder community.

Specifically, the HRF is seeking applications for initiatives that are aimed at enhancing interactions and fostering understanding among diverse groups, supporting marginalized communities in celebrating significant events and providing educational opportunities related to equity for the broader population. Rolling out starting today, Monday, Oct. 14, the application process is offering a friendly handshake to community leaders with projects that align with these goals.

According to the City of Boulder, the HRF is set to distribute about $85,000 in funding through a competitive application process. With the application window remaining open until March 28, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., organizations hoping to secure funding for their events next year will have ample time to prepare their submissions. Additionally, applications are made accessible in both English and Spanish to accommodate a broad range of applicants.

The opening of the HRF reflects Boulder’s ongoing efforts to address civil and human rights issues and to strengthen community cohesion through the financial support of proactive, local organizations. The funded events and activities are anticipated to become an integral part of Boulder's strategy to create an inclusive community where every voice is heard and valued.
