Tragic events unfolded on an Oceanside roadway last Saturday, where a devastating crash involving multiple motorcycles and vehicles claimed the life of a resident, Karl Trayvilla, and left another injured. The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased as Trayvilla, a 30-year-old Carlsbad man, who died following a series of collisions on S. Coast Highway, according to San Diego County officials.
The fatal accident occurred at approximately 1:53 p.m. last Saturday, when Trayvilla was riding his motorcycle in a group and struck the motorcycle in front of him, the Oceanside Police Department reported. The crash near West Street set off a chain reaction, where Trayvilla was ejected onto the roadway and subsequently run over by a southbound Toyota Yaris, according to a statement detailed by the Hoodline report. Paramedics rushed him to Tri-City Medical Center, where, despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Following the crash, a second motorcyclist was treated on the scene for injuries while the vehicle occupants remained unharmed. To reconstruct the events leading to this calamity, Oceanside Major Accident Investigation Team's Officer Jose Gomez urges witnesses to come forward with any information they may have on the incident. Gomez can be reached at (760) 435-4952 for tips or eyewitness accounts, as per the initial reports from Hoodline.
The community has been left grappling with the sudden loss, as Trayvilla's untimely passing represents not simply a tally of traffic statistics but the extinguishment of a life replete with dreams and aspirations. As the investigation proceeds, our understanding may grow clearer; however, the sting of grief's touch will linger much longer for those connected to Karl Trayvilla.
