As the buzz of election season ramps up, Clackamas County is taking no chances when it comes to ensuring the safety and security of its 26 ballot drop sites spread across the community. Measures such as daily ballot pickup by sworn election workers, enhanced surveillance, secure design of the drop sites, and the incorporation of fire suppressants are all part of the rigorous effort to keep the voting process safe and sound. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities they might spot around ballot boxes directly to emergency services, according to a report by the Clackamas County clerk's office.
In light of recent concerns over electoral integrity, the county is making it abundantly clear that secure voter access is paramount. "Voter access and ballot security are top priorities here in Clackamas County and across Oregon," Clerk Catherine McMullen noted in a statement obtained by Clackamas County News. McMullen, along with other officials, is committed to working in concert with local law enforcement to maintain the sanctity of the election process.
For those ready to cast their votes, the Official Ballot Drop Sites remain accessible twenty-four hours a day, up until 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 5. To locate the nearest drop site, citizens can find a full list online. The advise from the clerk's office: Get your ballot in the mail no later than Thursday if you're sending it via post. After this date, they're recommending to opt for one of the Official Ballot Drop Sites to ensure your vote counts.
Another tool at the disposal of voters is the Track Your Ballot feature, which will alert them via text, phone, or email when their ballot is en route and once it's been received and tallied. Clackamas County voters looking to make use of this service can sign up at the county's dedicated elections website, staying informed every step of the way from distribution to the final count.
