Justin Wilburn, the Assistant Division Manager, sp, headed a team of 4-5 workers who dedicated two months to repainting crosswalks across the town, a labor-intensive operation that not only involved the application of 106 five-gallon cans of paint but also the distribution of 16 bags of glass beads that are hand-scattered to enhance the reflectivity of the lines for better visibility as vehicles approach, a detail obtained by ColliervilleTN.gov.
The intricacies of this job are managed with the help of a meticulous spreadsheet which lists the 200 intersections complete with crosswalks and stop bars within the town, this inventory is annually reviewed to prioritize the painting schedule. According to the same report, the crosswalks in the Town Square see a fresh coat each year, while those nearest to schools are bumped to the top of the list, ensuring they're ready to serve the community's children at the start of the school season in August.
