The Collierville community is preparing to pay their final respects to a man heralded as a pillar in local law enforcement. Following the announcement of his passing, memorial details for former Collierville Assistant Police Chief Jeff Abeln have now been set.
According to Action News 5, the service is scheduled to take place at Central Church in Collierville next Wednesday at 10:00 am. Abeln, who dedicated an astonishing 37 years of his life to the Collierville Police Department (CPD) and its community, will be honored by family, friends, and colleagues who are expected to gather in commemoration of his legacy.
Contributing to the future as he did in the past, the family of Chief Abeln has made a specific request for those wishing to express their condolences. "In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Chief Abeln’s name," as mentioned in a report by FOX13 Memphis.
Keeping his commitment to community service in the foreground, these donations will continue to reflect Chief Abeln's enduring impact on the town he served. As confirmed by the Collierville Police Department in a social media post, the intent is to honor both "the life and legacy" of a figure who was deeply interwoven with the town's safety and progress. "The Collierville Police Department invites family, friends, and colleagues to join us in honoring the life and legacy of Assistant Chief Jeff Abeln," the department stated through a social media post.
