The Concord Police Department apprehended a suspect after a vehicle chase on Sunday ended in a foot pursuit. Detailed in a social media post by the department, officers observed the suspect committing traffic violations, which prompted an attempted stop. Instead of complying, the suspect accelerated and led the authorities on a pursuit.
During the chase, speeding through the streets, the suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle and attempted to evade capture on foot. Concord Police were able to detain him shortly after. As officers searched the suspect's belongings, they uncovered a loaded pistol in a discarded backpack. "during their search, found a loaded pistol hidden in a backpack he discarded," according to the Concord Police Department's post.
Following the arrest, the suspect was booked into the county jail with firearm offenses pending.
