Minneapolis, MN — If you've been dodging orange cones and navigating detours in the Lowry Hill East neighborhood, you can thank CenterPoint Energy for the maze. The company, tasked with keeping our gas supplies safe and resilient, is deep into a construction phase that has seen a new gas main planted along Hennepin Avenue S.
The latest from CenterPoint Energy's authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, is that as of October 14, the main installation is done and dusted. According to a CenterPoint Energy announcement, the crews are now pivoting to the task of replacing or hooking up service lines to the shiny new main, as well as transitioning inside meters to outdoor spots — though this will be by appointment.
The northbound lane between 26th Street W. and Emerson Avenue S. is currently closed, and next week, the southbound parking lane will join it in restriction. A detailed map of the ongoing construction can be found on their website.
CenterPoint Energy is ready to field your calls. You can touch base with their Communication Specialist at 612-321-5546 or shoot an email over to [email protected]. "We appreciate your patience as we’re upgrading our infrastructure," the company declared.
