The City of Coral Springs and the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs have announced plans to pay homage to military veterans with a ceremonious event on November 11. The Veterans Day Ceremony, a solemn occasion to recognize the service and sacrifices of the community's veterans, is scheduled to commence at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 8601 Royal Palm Blvd.
According to the City of Coral Springs website, featuring Rear Admiral Douglas M. Schofield as the guest speaker, the event will highlight the contributions of those who have served. Schofield, who leads the U.S. Coast Guard's Seventh District and the Homeland Security Task Force in Miami have a significant background in overseeing operations in the Southeast U.S. and the Caribbean Basin, including efforts to combat illegal maritime migration.
In a statement on the City of Coral Springs, Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook expressed his respect for the veterans: "Veterans are often the unsung heroes in our community who have faced some of the toughest challenges that one can imagine. It’s truly an honor to come together and honor their sacrifices with a meaningful ceremony that has stood as a time-honored tradition in our city and across the nation.” The program will include full honors with a wreath laying by the Coral Springs Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, and the Coral Springs Police Honor Guard will perform a salute volley.
