In Cotati yesterday afternoon, a report of an intoxicated driver near a Lowe's Home Improvement store sparked a high-speed chase. The chase, initiated by the local police after the driver ignored attempts to pull the vehicle over, spanned approximately one and a half miles, endangering several other motorists along the way before the driver was apprehended.
According to the Cotati Police Department's social media post, the driver was found to be almost three times over the legal alcohol limit.
Upon being stopped, the driver faced serious charges, including evading a police officer with disregard for the safety of people or property and driving under the influence of alcohol. According to the Cotati Police Department, "Please remember to drive sober or be pulled over." They stressed, "Driving under the influence is never worth the risk."
