As reported by Action News 5, the Crockett County Sheriff's Department has charged him with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated domestic assault, spotlighting the violence that has marred the small community of Bells, Tennessee.
On the day of the incident, the Bells Police Department, having to quickly respond to the crime, secured a search warrant and made their way to Pewitte's residence; however, they discovered he was not at home. Pewitte's vehicle, a white Chevrolet Tahoe seen by eyewitnesses, was found at the property with blood stains on the interior, as noted by FOX13 Memphis. The investigation into this violent assault has led to an urgent appeal from the local police to the public for assistance in locating Pewitte.
The mother of Pewitte's child was reported to have been stabbed four times in the face and once in the forearm—facts confirmed by multiple local news sources. Authorities consider Pewitte armed and extremely dangerous, and they are cautioning the public against approaching him, urging that they should instead contact law enforcement immediately. "This is a sad day for our town and we need your help. Domestic violence and the attempted killing of another is a serious crime," Bells Police Chief Kevin Ligon said, according to a statement obtained by Action News 5.
