A tragic two-vehicle crash in Clermont County has left five individuals dead and another in critical condition. The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene early yesterday morning, where the collision occurred at approximately 1:43 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 28 and Edenton Pleasant Plain Road in the township of Goshen, as detailed by FOX19.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol's preliminary investigation indicated that a 2005 Chrysler 300, driven by 25-year-old Mathew Penny of Cincinnati, was traveling northeast on State Route 28. Concurrently, a 2007 Subaru Legacy, driven by 43-year-old Dustin McDole of Goshen, was headed northwest on Edenton Pleasant Plain Road. According to patrol reports, the Chrysler struck the Subaru as it attempted to cross the highway, causing both vehicles to veer off the road and into a ditch and embankment, as The Enquirer reported.
The aftermath of the accident was grave. Both Penny and McDole were pronounced dead at the scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office. The passengers in Penny's vehicle, 19-year-old Chloe Love of Loveland and 18-year-old Dezmen Jernigan of Goshen were also tragically pronounced dead at the site of the crash. A third passenger, 18-year-old Ayden Taylor of Milford, was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. In the Subaru, 42-year-old Andrea Iery of Pleasant Plain also lost her life and was declared dead on the scene. "She cared about others before herself. When she walked into the room, everyone felt comfortable and safe. They were always bound to have a good laugh. She had the power to change a bad situation into good," a statement given by Kamryn White, Love’s cousin, conveyed the impact of her loss in a statement obtained by FOX19.
