A 24-year-old Fort Campbell man has died following a motorcycle accident on Interstate 24 West yesterday morning. The tragic incident occurred between the Old Hickory Boulevard and Joelton exits around 2:30 a.m. According to witness accounts detailed by the Metro Nashville Police Department, the motorcyclist was seen traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour before losing control of the vehicle, as reported by WKRN.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his family can be notified, as mentioned in a WSMV report. The determination and notification process is currently underway by officials, who also confirmed that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time and there were no apparent signs of impairment at the scene of the accident. The high speed at which the man was riding and the subsequent loss of control on a curve of the road appear to have led to the fatal crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A further investigation into the matter is likely as standard protocol following such incidents details remain minimal while the due process is honored for the man's family in their time of grief, and official statements have not disclosed additional circumstances surrounding the crash.
