Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler found himself on the wrong side of the headlines Thursday, following his arrest in Franklin, Tennessee. Cutler, who brought his arm cannon to the field for 12 NFL seasons, seemed to have made a serious misjudgment on Bridge Street around 5 p.m., per NBC Chicago. He ended up rear-ending another vehicle, which sparked the sequence of events leading to his arrest on multiple charges.
Police arriving at the scene were met by a driver claiming Cutler had hit his car. The retired quarterback was reported to have offered $2,000 to the individual for not contacting the authorities and exhibited attempts to leave the area before police personnel appeared, WGN News
The authorities discovered not one, but two firearms—a loaded Glock pistol and a rifle—inside Cutler's vehicle, as reported by NBC Chicago. His list of charges thus included DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, failure to exercise due care, and implied consent.
He was booked at the Williamson County Jail with a $5,000 bond and released later that Thursday evening, as detailed by NBC Chicago.
