A call came to the firefighters of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue's Station 2 that led them to discover a kitten trapped within the innards of a vehicle's engine on Northwest Fifth Street. According to Local 10, this kitten, now named "Salem", found itself in a challenging situation.
The sounds of distress, manifest as meows, prompted a 911 call to the firefighters who rapidly responded. There, nestled within the machinery, the black feline awaited rescue. After pry to free it, Firefighter Kary Plaza from FLFR’s Station 2 provided the kitten with a warm bath, which WSVN reported, was given in the spirit of the Halloween season's thematic black cat—naming it fittingly, Salem.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue’s act of kindness has brought Salem out from the entrapment to the prospect of a warm and loving home. As of now, the kitten is sheltered safely at the station, its temporary abode, until someone steps forward to adopt.
