
A series of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, has followed a violent carjacking attempt in Northeast Washington. Four suspects, two of whom are juveniles, tried to steal a car on Monday night but were quickly caught after a shooting incident, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
The incident occurred around 11:16 p.m. in the 1200 block of H Street, Northeast. Police say the suspects approached the victim to steal their car, and during the chaos, one suspect fired a gun, injuring the victim. Fortunately, the victim's injuries were not life-threatening, and they received medical care at a nearby hospital. Metropolitan Police Department officers, with help from the Real Time Crime Center and the helicopter Falcon One, quickly located the suspects' vehicle and arrested them.
Further investigation identified and charged 18-year-old Andrew Williams from Hyattsville, MD, a 16-year-old male from Southwest DC, another 18-year-old named Anardo Little, and a second 16-year-old from Northwest DC. They face charges including armed carjacking and illegal firearms possession.
The suspects face serious charges, including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Armed Carjacking, and several firearm-related offenses. The Metropolitan Police Department noted in their press release that all suspects were quickly taken into custody without further incident.
