Last night in the Midway District, an altercation escalated into violence when a 38-year-old man was seen striking a woman on Sports Arena Boulevard. According to the San Diego Police Department Watch Commander's Log, the incident occurred around 10:15 pm. A 45-year-old male passerby, witnessing the assault from his vehicle, took it upon himself to directly intervene.
The attempt to thwart the violence quickly became a physical confrontation between the two men. The aggressor, in the heat of the fight, managed to stab the intervening bystander in the back with an unknown object, leaving him with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect has been arrested, and Western Division detectives are now conducting a follow-up investigation.
As of this writing, the police have not released the names of the individuals involved in the stabbing. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
