Authorities in Hialeah conducted a major police operation yesterday evening in response to reports of an armed individual on the loose. The situation caused significant traffic disruptions, including closures on parts of the Palmetto Expressway and West 68th Street, but these have now been lifted.
WSVN reports that police flashlights illuminated officers as they searched the grassy areas near the expressway, with the Miami-Dade Police Department deploying a helicopter to scan from above. Despite these efforts, by 11 p.m., the police cordon was disassembled. The report noted, "No word on if officials have captured or located the subject in question."
While in a report from NBC Miami, a suspect was arrested after a man was found injured. Florida Highway Patrol officials responded to a disturbance call shortly before 8 p.m. Authorities established a perimeter, located the suspect, and took him into custody. The victim received treatment at the scene.
