A Holladay residence became the scene of a multi-person injury incident, resulting in eight individuals being displaced, according to reports from various local news outlets. On the afternoon of Thursday, three people, including one firefighter and two residents, were taken to an area hospital for treatment following a house fire. Unified Fire Authority (UFA) has since embarked on a criminal investigation to determine the specifics of the blaze. As per ABC4, an additional five police officers were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
According to FOX 13, a juvenile playing with a lighter was the identified cause of the inferno that inflicted injuries on both residents and responders. The critically injured resident was amongst the two individuals who had been within the home when UFA arrived to perform a rescue operation. They were quickly removed from their unit with UFA's assistance.
Neighbors witnessed scenes of urgency and distress as emergency responders attended to victims. "I saw them wheeling out people," said Payne, as detailed by KUTV. The account detailed that someone was seen administering CPR to a victim at the site. A firefighter was also among the injured, having been transported to a hospital for treatment. According to a statement by Porter, UFA lives by the credo, "we’re going to risk a lot, to save a lot."
Fire crews worked tirelessly for hours, leaving only after the flames were quelled, to leave the scene to Unified Police forensics and the mobile crime lab, who remained for additional time. The blaze left the affected property in such a state that it is expected to be a total loss. As of the collective displacement caused by the fire, eight people from the main house and the adjoining structure have found themselves without a home.
