Imperial Beach experienced a moment of alarm yesterday morning as a bank robbery unfolded at a local Chase Bank. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, at just after 9:00 a.m., a man demanded money from the bank on the 1100 block of Palm Avenue. Bank employees complied with the man's demands before he fled the scene on foot, carrying an undisclosed cash. After receiving reports of the robbery in progress, the incident prompted an immediate response from deputies at the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Substation.
The search for the suspect didn't last long. Less than an hour later, deputies captured a man matching the suspect's description, as confirmed by a San Diego County Sheriff's Department news release. Witnesses from within the bank positively identified him as the individual responsible for the morning's upheaval. The man, identified as Rashad McNeely, born on January 11, 1993, was arrested and booked into the San Diego Central Jail on charges including robbery.
