As Hurricane Milton continues to impact Florida, causing power outages and flooding, Indiana utility crews are mobilizing to provide assistance. AES Indiana has announced that five crews, totaling 19 employees, are heading to the storm-affected state to help restore electricity to those impacted by the hurricane. The teams, equipped with five bucket trucks, five digger trucks, and a supply truck, as reported by WTHR.

The Indiana deployments are part of a larger relief effort involving over 37,000 workers from various states. These volunteers are heading south to offer their skills and assistance in restoring the daily routines disrupted by recent catastrophic events. Hurricanes have not only damaged the physical structure of communities but also impacted the normal lives of many families. Operating from Raymond James Stadium, the crews will work 16-hour shifts and rest on cots in the stadium when not on duty, according to both WRTV.

Meanwhile, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is also contributing to the relief efforts with a strong force of 479 employees and contractors. They were mobilized on Thursday to aid Tampa Electric and Florida Power and Light in what has become an ongoing endeavor to rebuild essential infrastructure. As detailed in a news release by I&M, their personnel includes "lineworkers, fleet technicians, tree trimming experts, and safety support staff" who will "work 16-hour days repairing and replacing power poles, power lines, and if needed, rebuilding portion of the electrical system," an additional indication of the scale and severity of the hurricane's impact, as per WISH-TV.
