A tragic incident in unincorporated Island Lake has led to an ongoing investigation after a vehicle fatally struck a 24-year-old man on September 27. According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 10:48 p.m. in the 4300 block of Roberts Road. The driver involved in the crash did not stop and initially, both the driver and the vehicle remained unidentified.
In a statement obtained by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the Major Crash Investigation Team has since made progress by identifying a person of interest and recovering a white SUV believed to be connected to the fatality.
The investigation, spearheaded by the Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit, is actively ongoing.
