
Tragedy struck the city of Jackson, Tennessee yesterday when gunfire at a party resulted in one fatality and eight injuries. According to Local Memphis, the incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. at the Picture Perfect Event Center located on North Highland Avenue.
The chaos of the event has left police piecing together the sequence of events that led to the shooting, in a scene where, one person's life was lost. A total of nine individuals sustained injuries, and seven were transported to a local hospital in Jackson. FOX13 Memphis reports that five victims were treated and released, while one critically injured woman was airlifted to Memphis and succumbed to her injuries roughly five and a half hours following the shooting.
In the wake of the violence, the Jackson Police Department faces an investigation hindered by a lack of cooperation. Officers "received very little initial information or assistance from witnesses," the department said, as reported by FOX13 Memphis. The department urges those with knowledge of the events to step forward.
Those airlifted to Memphis include not just the deceased victim, but another individual who’s condition has not been publicly updated.
