
A fatal crash in Boone County on Monday morning resulted in the death of a Jamestown woman when her utility terrain vehicle was hit by a pickup truck. The Boone County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred around 10:34 a.m. near 8800 West 300 South, where deputies responded to the accident, according to details from a FOX59 news release.
The deceased, identified as 61-year-old Stacey Sutphin, was operating her UTV when a pickup truck driven by 73-year-old Sherry Emmert attempted a pass just as Sutphin was making a left turn into a local farm, this sequence of events led to the tragic collision, causing the truck to strike the UTV; and as per the WISH-TV report, Emmert's truck collided with Sutphin's UTV.
Sutphin was promptly taken to a hospital following the accident but succumbed to her injuries upon arrival, detailed in statements from both WTHR and FOX59. The other party involved, Emmert, was unharmed during the incident.
While the investigation into the specifics of the crash continues by the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, the authorities have yet to release further information, the ongoing investigation is looking into all aspects of the collision and according to the WISH-TV coverage, the incident occurred in a rural area about a 40-minute drive northwest of downtown Indianapolis, which may impact traffic and driving behaviors.
