The Metropolitan Police Department recently reported the arrest of Ayotomiwa Babalola, 33, of no fixed address, concerning a series of assaults on women in Northwest D.C. On Tuesday, after a woman who was assaulted on 1300 block of Irving Street, Northwest alerted officers, they caught Babalola attempting to flee the scene around 3:25 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Police Department press release.

Babalola is facing one charge of Simple Assault related to the Irving Street incident. After he ran away, officers quickly apprehended him and linked him to additional offenses following a thorough investigation. He is also charged with five counts of Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse for separate incidents that occurred on Monday, in which he approached and touched victims without consent.

The reported incidents occurred within a few hours and followed a disturbing pattern. The first victim was a teenage girl walking in the 3100 block of 14th Street at around 9 a.m. At 10:25 a.m., a woman in the 1300 block of L Street became his next target. Shortly after, at 10:28 a.m. and 11 a.m., two more women were assaulted at 13th and K Streets and in the 300 block of F Street, respectively. A fifth assault occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Massachusetts Avenue.

The Metropolitan Police Department also expresses appreciation towards the victims for their bravery in coming forward, citing their actions as significantly aiding the investigation and eventual arrest.
