
A man was fatally injured in a drive-by shooting outside the Morse Red Line CTA station in Rogers Park on Sunday night, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. at 1358 W. Morse Ave., where the victim, a 27-year-old man, was standing when he was shot from a black SUV, the police detailed. He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, no suspects are currently in custody, and the situation is under active investigation by Area 3 detectives. The man's identity has yet to be disclosed, pending notification of next of kin by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Further details emerged from a FOX 32 Chicago report, where a witness, present during the shooting, described the chaos. "I think about fifteen rounds went off," he recalled. "It took about three or four to register, ‘we gotta take cover.’" The witness was in the process of setting up for a local band's performance at a venue close to the scene when the gunfire erupted.
The motive of the shooting remains unclear, as further details are awaited from the ongoing investigation by the local police.
