A 28-year-old man was left in critical condition following an attempted robbery and shooting in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood early Friday morning. CBS News Chicago reports that the incident occurred just after 6:30 a.m. on the 7700 block of South Muskegon Avenue.
According to the details released by Chicago police, the victim was standing outside when he was approached by an SUV. An individual, described only as a male, emerged from the vehicle with a gun and demanded the man's belongings. "The gunman then shot the victim about the body and fled in an unknown direction," as mentioned in a statement obtained by CBS News Chicago.
Emergency services transported the victim to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. As of the latest updates, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The authorities have not provided any description of the suspect beyond the cursory detail that he is a male.
