
Tragedy struck late Monday night when gunfire erupted outside a Little Village restaurant, leaving one man dead and a female staffer seriously injured. According to Chicago Sun-Times, at around 11:35 p.m., the 30-year-old man was attempting entry into the establishment located at 4128 W. 26th St. when he was ambushed and struck multiple times in the head by bullets from two gunmen.
The shooting, which fatally wounded the unidentified man, also left its violent mark on the interior of the premises. A 27-year-old female employee inside, working when bullets shattered the restaurant's glass, sustained serious injuries after being hit by gunfire, in the buttocks, police reported. It was at the scene where the man was declared dead, and the injured woman was hastily transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
CBS News Chicago notes that the store front of Delicias Mexicanas was ensconced in shattered glass, a silent testament to the ferocity of the incident that unfolded. Detailing the immediate aftermath, the sidewalk adjacent was covered with remnants from the bullets that penetrated the window.
Law enforcement efforts to apprehend the perpetrators remain ongoing with no arrests being made thus far. Area Four detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal event.
