Following a collaborative effort between the U.S. Marshals Service teams in Tennessee and Minnesota, fugitive Jaylon Remus has been detained in the Minneapolis area. Remus, 25, from Memphis, was facing multiple charges including first degree murder, aggravated assault, especially aggravated robbery, and reckless endangerment in Shelby County, Tennessee.
A warrant for Remus's arrest was issued on September 4, after which the U.S. Marshals Service's Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis promptly took on the case. The task force quickly gathered information indicating that Remus had fled to Minnesota, leading them to contact their counterparts in that state for assistance in locating him.
With determined coordination, the U.S. Marshals Service's North Star Fugitive Task Force in Minneapolis moved in yesterday. Remus was found at a family member's residence in Medina, a suburb of the larger Minneapolis area. According to a press release by the U.S. Marshals Service, Remus surrendered without incident to the deputies waiting at the front door of the home.
As proceedings move forward, Remus is awaiting extradition back to Tennessee where he will face the charges laid against him.
