
The Metropolitan Police Department is on the trail of suspects linked to a series of burglaries reported across the city. These incidents, characterized as a burglary spree, occurred during the early morning hours of yesterday, according to a press release from the department.
Involved in all reported cases are three individuals suspected of smashing through either front doors or windows before snatching cash and making their getaway in a blue sedan. Before capturing the establishments, they were victim to this criminal onslaught, spreading from Southeast to Northwest parts of the city. The specified locations affected by these crimes include the 2200 Block of Town Center Drive, Southeast, the 3800 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, the 2600 Block of P Street, Northwest, and the 1200 Block of Half Street, Southeast.
These burglaries have all been assigned a Criminal Complaint Number (CCN), which police are using to track each individual incident. The affected businesses on Town Center Drive, Pennsylvania Avenue, P Street, and Half Street have been respectively given the CCNs 24159718, 24159709, 24159734, and 24159730. These identifiers are crucial for both the ongoing investigation and for those in the community who may have information to come forward.
Authorities have gathered surveillance footage showcasing the suspects in the act and also their vehicle. The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone who has the ability to identify the suspect or the sedan, or possesses any knowledge about the incidents to refrain from confronting the suspects and instead to contact police by calling (202) 727-9099. Alternatively, tipsters can send a message to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. As an incentive to the public for aiding in the capture and indictment of those behind these acts, the Department is offering a reward of up to $1,000.
