Two men in Miami Beach have been arrested after a spree of robberies targeting patrons leaving clubs who were deceived into believing the suspects were rideshare drivers. As reported by Local 10, Fevry Gentillon, 43, and Kebert Jean, 56, now face numerous charges, including armed robbery with a firearm, kidnapping, and identity theft, among others.
According to the Miami Beach Police Department, two men posed as rideshare drivers to pick up drunk clubgoers before robbing them at gunpoint. One incident occurred near the police headquarters by the club Twist. This reflects a growing trend of similar crimes in the area, including the earlier arrests of Alejandro Yadir Gongora and Estalin Maurad-Avecillas for related offenses, as obtained by WSVN.
Police Chief Wayne Jones emphasizes the gravity of these crimes, stating, "We regard incidents of this nature with utmost seriousness and are committed to diligently pursuing accountability for those responsible," and stressing the Police Department's commitment to the safety of Miami Beach as conveyed by Local 10.
Investigations by the MBPD’s Robbery Unit led to the identification of Gentillon and Jean, and police are asking for anyone with additional information or potential victims to step forward. The suspects are expected in court on Friday, as reported by WSVN.
