The accolades recognize his proactive approach to policework, unwavering dedication to duty, and crucial lifesaving actions, as reported by Miami-Dade Police Department's Instagram account.
From May 26 to June 21, Officer Vera excelled in various roles, notably recovering a stolen vehicle and using lifesaving techniques on a gun violence victim by applying tourniquets to both legs to stem bleeding. His crime-fighting efforts also led to the arrest of suspects involved in armed robbery, carjacking, and abduction. These incidents highlight Vera's dedication to protecting Miami-Dade residents, often in dangerous situations where his quick thinking helped prevent further violence.
This week, Officer Vera received the Departmental Employee Lifesaving Award during a ceremony, highlighting his role as a protector in the Northside District. Vera expressed gratitude, saying, "This award is not about me it’s all about all the people who helped me get to this point of my life, all the people who taught me the ropes and showed me the way also my parents who gave me guidance in life," as Local 10 News reported.
