The Hammocks Home Owners Association's web of deceit has grown with the recent arrest of Ivan Dario Diez, who is accused of involvement in a large-scale embezzlement scheme. Diez, 58, was taken into custody on multiple charges, including grand theft, organized fraud, and perjury, according to Miami-Dade jail records.
As confirmed by NBC Miami and Local 10, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle stated that the Hammocks HOA fiasco continues, highlighting Diez's alleged role in setting up a fake company to illegally take nearly $172,000 from the HOA's accounts.
Investigators have uncovered a story of corruption and greed linked to charges against Marglli Gallego, the former HOA president. Recent revelations focus on the alleged exploitation of vendors for illegal profit, with Diez's company billing for fake hurricane cleanup and temporary holiday decorations. Fernandez Rundle stated that millions have been recovered so far, and with the investigation still ongoing, she vowed, "We are going to continue this investigation," as reported by NBC Miami.
